How to Distinguish the Quality of Teak Wood: Distinguishing the quality of teak furniture is indeed not
easy for those of you who do not have knowledge in the world of wood
processing. How not, this poor example ... teak wood that has poor quality can
be "juggled" to look good in the hands of reliable finishing
artisans, goods made from carelessly can be so it looks classy by a reliable
service worker, so it's a bit difficult if we don't have basic knowledge about
how to distinguish the quality of good teak furniture.
Here we will share knowledge about this, but it is worth
noting that the way to distinguish the quality of teak furniture that we
describe here is based on our perspective and experience as craftsmen of
furniture. certainly, one craftsman is also different from the standard, but as
a line, can it be used as a reference.
Wood Factor: Teak is indeed favored by furniture consumers both at home
and abroad. Beautiful teak wood fiber and very strong resistance to both
extreme weather and to the infestation of lice and pests are the main things
that are considered by consumers to buy this product. There are several points
that can be the deciding factor whether the teak furniture you want to buy is
quality or not.
Look at the Fiber: The first way to distinguish teak wood quality is to look
at the wood fiber. Good teak is old, the older the stable the cross-section of
the board produced. The possibility for shrinkage, cracked or curved cracks can
be minimized by using old wood. how do we know that teak is old? look at the
density of the fiber.
Teak wood, like any other wood, consists of cambium layers
that develop each year. This cambium forms rings when viewed from the top cut,
but when viewed from the side cut it will look tight or not the fiber. the
denser the fiber, the older the age of the wood, which means the better the
quality

See the Width of the Board Joint: The next way to differentiate the quality of teak furniture
is to look at the connection. A wide board connection means using large
diameter wood, large diameter wood means that it is old, and old wood has
advantages as we have explained above. but what is a good board width?
depending on the grade or quality of furniture you choose. We wrote in one of
these web pages that explained the difference in grade there are 3 types of
quality namely grade C for standard quality, B for good quality and Grade A for
the best quality.
Now what is the width of the board connection for grade C?
so we take the example of a wide table top, not like a chair with a small appearance.
the width of the board connection for grade C is at least 15 cm, for grade B is
at least 20 cm and for grade A is at least 25 cm.
See the construction: Construction in this case is strength and craft. do not
hesitate to shake, fold, look at the bottom and in the furniture, you want to
buy. look for parts that are cracked or possibly broken. especially in wooden
joints such as table tops, chair legs and other parts that you think are prone
to damage. if there is no problem, we can conclude that this furniture is good
in terms of construction.
